Spot PlayDREAMING OF CARA (#3, 5/1) has been something of a hard-luck horse all year, running very well in several spots only to endure a tough trip or pace-scenario and ultimately come up short; she handles dirt just fine (see her Saratoga Dew effort, where she was trip compromised and clearly no worse than second best, for confirmation) and I’m keeping the faith.—Mike Beer Vulnerable Favorite MY SPARKY (#1, 3/1) has disappointed more than once recently at a short price, and now faces the prospect of a stretch out in distance from a tough post, along with other speed to her outside.—Mike Beer Closer Looks >> |

Race 8 |
Live LongshotINDY SEA (#3, 12-1): One previous start on dirt was a second-out maiden win in the mud two years ago at the expense of Silver Max, who is now a multiple graded stakes winner and the only horse to beat Wise Dan this year. Two half-siblings each won eight races on dirt.—Dave Litfin REACHING OUT (#2, 20-1) may not be the 20-1 ML price at post time but he will likely offer value off the return try, even if he had a valid excuse there thanks to a slow start; he has a win at the track and distance, competitive top Beyers, and scintillating works.—Kenny Peck Closer Looks >> |
Race 9 |
Spot PlayAL’S GAL (#5, 4-1) freshened since making debut in two turn affair up at the Spa, a race dominated by the frontrunners who went 1, 2 around the track; that race produced three next out winners, including one a graded stakes winner.—Chuck Kuehhas Closer Looks >> |
