Aqueduct cancels final three races Thursday due to snow
Aqueduct canceled its final three races Thursday due to accumulating snow on the racetrack.
The first six races of the card were run under snowy conditions and deteriorating visibility with the racing surface covered with snow. In race 6, the 6-5 favorite Azm had an awkward start from the gate.
Heavy snow was forecast to continue throughout the afternoon.
The $2 daily double on races 6 and 7 paid $4.30, with Merger Arbitrage (No. 8) in race six and all runners in the seventh.
The $1 pick three on races 5 to 7 paid $13.60 for tickets having Joe's Smokin Gun (No. 2) in race 5, Merger Arbitrage in race 6, and all runners in race 7.
The $1 pick three that started on race 6 paid $2.25 to tickets with Merger Arbitrage and all runners in both races 7 and 8.
Refunds were issued on wagers in the pick six, which began on race 4; the NYRA pick five, which started on race 5; and late pick four, which began on race 6.
The Belmont Cafe and Aqueduct Racetrack remained open for simulcasting.
Aqueduct is scheduled to resume racing Friday with a first post of 12:20 p.m.
Laurel Park, Charles Town, and Penn National canceled their Thursday cards.
