Aqueduct: Agave Kiss to face only four in Cicada
Post positions were drawn Wednesday for Saturday’s pair of six-furlong stakes for 3-year-olds, the Grade 3, $150,000 Cicada and the $100,000 Fred “Cappy” Capossela.
Agave Kiss, who has won her first three starts by a combined 20 lengths, will be odds-on to stay unbeaten against four other fillies in the Cicada Stakes.
The Rudy Rodriguez-trained Agave Kiss has not started since winning the Ruthless Stakes under a hand ride Jan. 14. She will break from post 2 and carry 122 pounds, giving four pounds to Alydarla (post 1), Nitara (post 3), Princess Reyana (post 4), and Corderosa (post 5).
Corderosa, a close second in the Dearly Precious Stakes last time out, will be second choice.
The Cicada is carded as race 4 on a 10-race program, and is thus not part of the pick six.
The Fred “Cappy” Capossela drew a competitive field of seven, including uncoupled entries from Chad Brown and Tony Dutrow. From the rail out, the field is: How Do I Win, Hardened Wildcat, Beggarthyneighbor, Christopher’s Joy, Perfect Trippi, Copy My Swagger, and Ancient Rome.
The Capossela is race 9, and the third leg of a $250,000-guaranteed late pick four.
