Aqueduct adds three days to make up for weather-related cancellations

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – In an effort to make up for several cards that have been lost due to weather, the New York Racing Association has added three days to the racing schedule in March, the company announced Saturday.

There will be live racing at Aqueduct from March 26 to 28 – days that were initially scheduled as dark days. The track, which reverts to a Thursday-to-Sunday schedule beginning Feb. 19, is forbidden from racing March 29 because it is Palm Sunday.

Racing those three days will be conducted on the inner track with the main track opening April 1 as originally scheduled.

NYRA had planned to take a nine-day winter break from March 23 to 31 before losing eight full cards of racing and the final seven races of a ninth card, mostly due to weather. All of those cancellations have occurred since Jan. 7.

Post time for those three cards will be 1:20 p.m.
