ARCADIA, Calif. - The 2-year-old colt Bob and Jackie and apprentice jockey Heriberto Figueroa both won a stakes at Santa Anita for the first time in the $78,435 Eddie Logan Stakes on Friday.
For Bob and Jackie, the Logan Stakes at a mile on turf was his stakes debut and his third start. He won a maiden special weight race at Del Mar on Nov. 18. The Logan Stakes was Figueroa’s second stakes win. He won the Barretts Debutante on Kim K at Los Alamitos in September.
Figueroa rode Bob and Jackie with confidence, guiding toward the front shortly after the start. Bob and Jackie took a one-length lead on the turn and held off a sustained threat from 3-2 favorite Rijeka to win by a length.
