Apprentice draws second ban

Apprentice Luis Chavez received a 10-day suspension for careless riding during Aqueduct's fifth race March 21, in which he rode Paint it Black to a first-place finish. Paint it Black had come out in the stretch under Chavez's left-handed whipping and interfered with Glorious Jenna, resulting in a disqualification. Chavez was also given a 10-day suspension for standing up before the wire on Lehigh Grad on the ninth race March 19. Chavez has appealed both suspensions.
