LINCOLN, Neb. - Apple Crumble overcame traffic on the final turn and a stewards' inquiry to post an impressive 4 3/4-length win over five others in the $16,080 Princess Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Lincoln on Sunday afternoon. Apple Crumble and rider Jordan Olesiak found themselves trapped in a tightly bunched field nearing the stretch and battled their way past the tiring leaders to emerge in front and draw off for the win in 1:12.60 for six furlongs over a fast track. She returned $14.20. Trained by Jason Wise, Apple Crumble had won the Fonner Park Special at Fonner Park last month. Lady Countdown also encountered traffic on the turn and finished second, three-quarters of a length in front of 6-5 favorite Stroll By in third.
