Apollitical Brooke wins battle in Southwest Juvenile Championship

Apollitical Brooke fought for a head win over Believe Me Irene in the Grade 1, $200,000 Southwest Juvenile Championship for Quarter Horses on Sunday at Zia Park. It was another length back to Swankee in third.

Apollitical Brooke ($28.80) was always prominent while covering 440 yards on a fast track in 21.86 seconds. Irving Delgado-Bustillos was aboard the winner for trainer Ruben Leyba Jr.

Apollitcal Brooke is a Texas-bred daughter of Apollitical Jess. She races for Samantha Leyba and Lilly Leyba. For the effort in the Southwest Juvenile Championship, Apollitical Brooke earned $94,080.

The race was the final stakes offering of the meet at Zia.
