Anyportinastorm makes it three straight in Budweiser Stakes

Anyportinastorm won his third consecutive sprint stakes in Sunday’s $50,000 Budweiser Stakes at Emerald Downs as a prep for his graded stakes debut in Emerald’s leading race, the Grade 3 Longacres Mile on Aug. 11.
Anyportinastorm ($2.40) led throughout the Budweiser Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs under jockey Juan Hernandez, drawing away in the final furlong to win by 6 1/2 lengths over stablemate Oh Marvelous Me, the 10-1 third choice in a field of seven.
Anyportinastorm set early fractions of 22.66 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 44.92 for a half-mile. He was timed in 1:14.35.
“He broke and I let him go,” Hernandez said in a post-race interview. “He won easy.”
Owned by Peter Redekop, Anyportinastorm won the Lost in the Fog Stakes at Golden Gate Fields on April 27 and the Governor’s Stakes at Emerald Downs on June 2. The Budweiser Stakes was the longest win of Anyportinastorm’s career.
“He put it all together when the gate opened,” trainer Blaine Wright said. “The expectations were pretty high.”
Wright also trains Oh Marvelous Me.
Hit the Beach, a 33-1 outsider, finished third.
Anyportinastorm, a 5-year-old horse by City Zip, has won 7 of 13 starts and earned $241,025. The Budweiser Stakes was his fourth career stakes win.
