Anthony recognized as all-time leading owner at Oaklawn

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Oaklawn on Saturday recognized John Ed Anthony as its all-time leading owner following his 12th-race victory with Rolling Fork. Oaklawn listed the win as the 270th for the owner in 50 years of racing at Oaklawn.
Anthony came back Sunday and won the Oaklawn feature with The Mary Rose, an Arkansas-bred who defeated open-company fillies and mares routing with a Beyer Speed Figure of 93. She’s ticketed for an Arkansas-bred stakes later in the meet, said trainer John Ortiz, who also saddled Rolling Fork.
Anthony and Ortiz on Saturday have Gar Hole in the $150,000 Nodouble, and the horse could go favored in the stakes for Arkansas-breds. Earlier in the meet, Anthony won the Grade 3, $600,000 Razorback Handicap with the Brad Cox-trained Plainsman.

Jockey Ramon Vazquez, who won last weekend’s Grade 2, $1 million Rebel at Oaklawn aboard Un Ojo, will be riding at Santa Anita on Saturday, agent Bill Castle said.
Vazquez will be aboard Whisper Not in the Grade 1 Frank Kilroe Mile, Miss Bigly in the Grade 1 Beholder Mile, and Phantom Dance in the Grade 2 San Carlos. He won the Bayakoa at Oaklawn aboard Miss Bigly.
Sunland Park-based jockey Roimes Chirinos has the mount on Canoodling in the Grade 2 Buena Vista on Saturday at Santa Anita.
