Another Minnesota-bred stakes sweep for trainer Mac Robertson

The fireworks at Canterbury Park this week came from the barn of trainer Mac Robertson.
After sweeping a pair of Minnesota-bred turf stakes Wednesday night, Robertson took down two Minesota-bred dirt-sprint stakes on the Thursday evening program. Ready to Runaway went wire to wire in the $50,000 Frances Genter for 3-year-old fillies and later on the card Mister Banjoman led all the way in the $50,550 Victor S. Myers Stakes.
Under Orlando Mojica, Mister Banjoman out-sprinted 11-10 favorite Dame Plata for the early lead in the Myers and was clear throughout, going his six furlongs over a fast track in 1:10.21 as he crossed the finish two lengths in front of Dame Plata. Astronaut Oscar was another 2 1/4 lengths back in third while 2-1 shot El Tizar never got involved and finished fifth. Mister Banjoman ($6.20), owned by Novogratz Racing, is a son of Maclean’s Music and the Sky Mesa mare, Mesa Mirage.
Jareth Loveberry rode favored Ready to Runaway ($4.20), who was even more dominant posting a 4 1/4 -length score over strong second choice Grand Prize. The winner, owned by John Mentz, is by First Dude out of Ready to Rip, by More than Ready.
