Annecdote among Clement workers

ELMONT, N.Y. – Looking to beat some expected inclement weather, trainer Christophe Clement worked four horses on the turf Friday morning, including the promising filly Annecdote, who is being pointed to the Grade 3, $200,000 Athenia Stakes on Oct. 12.
Annecdote, who showed a devastating late kick to win the Grade 3 Noble Damsel on Sept. 13, worked four furlongs in 49.24 seconds. She began the move two lengths behind Antonia Autumn and finished on even terms with her at the wire.
“I thought it was a nice work in order to get her ready for the Athenia,” Clement said. “I was very happy with the work and she looks good to me. I don’t think she will like ground too soft, so I have got to be a bit careful there.”
Clement also worked Indian Rainbow, a recent arrival from Europe, who went a half-mile in 50.43 seconds over the Belmont turf in company with Cushion. Irish Rainbow, twice second in Group 3 company in France and Germany, is being pointed to the $200,000 Pebbles on the Oct. 13 Columbus Day card.
“It was a slow work by design,” Clement said. “I thought Indian Rainbow moved well and came back in good shape.”
Clement added he may run Walk Close in the Pebbles.
Among the horses Clement is considering for Saturday’s Grade 3, $200,000 Knickerbocker are Speaking of Which, Summer Front and Za Approval.
