Anna's Bandit romps as odds-on favorite in Original Gold
Anna’s Bandit won the 11th stakes race of her career with style Friday night, when she powered to a six-length victory in the $50,000 Original Gold at Charles Town.
She was winning the race for the second year in a row.
Anna’s Bandit was coming home for the Original Gold, a seven-furlong race for fillies and mares bred in West Virginia. She invaded from Laurel Park off a third-place finish in the Grade 3 Barbara Fritchie in February.

Anna’s Bandit represented her homestate of West Virginia in a notable way last year when she went 9 for 11 to tie for North America’s winningest horse of 2019.
Anna’s Bandit ($2.80) on Friday night stalked the pace set by Sherwood Lady, who took the field through an opening quarter in 23.66 seconds and a half-mile in 47.76. Anna’s Bandit moved to the lead from there and increased her advantage to the wire while covering the two-turn configuration in 1:25.75 over a fast track.

Anna’s Bandit is a 6-year-old mare by Great Notion. She was bred by her trainer, Jerry Robb.
Anna’s Bandit has now won 17 of 35 starts and earned $774,405.
Hell of Afire finished second in the Original Gold, 1 1/2 lengths clear of third-place finisher B’s Wild Cork.
