ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Trainer Mark Casse swept the top three positions in Saturday’s Grade 1 Natalma at Woodbine, with 16-1 shot And One More Time narrowly prevailing over Vixen and Nitrogen in the one-mile turf route for 2-year-old fillies.

Nitrogen went straight to the front and set honest fractions while And One More Time pressed her through the turn, as Vixen tracked them from a three-wide position.

Nitrogen began to tire around the eighth pole, where Vixen appeared to be going best, but And One More Time dug in gamely between them to prevail by a head, in a time of 1:33.99 over the firm ground.

Italian Soiree finished fourth and was followed by Ready to Battle, Annascaul, Ready for Candy, favored Mountain Breeze, Will Reign, Threat and Arctic Velocity.

And One More Time ($35.20) earned a fees-paid berth into the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf in the BC qualifier, for Charlotte Weber’s Live Oak Plantation.

Fresh off a second-out maiden score over a muddy track in a key maiden special at Saratoga, And One More Time earned $300,000 of the $502,500 purse. The daughter of Omaha Beach, the sire of this year’s King’s Plate winner Caitlinhergrtness, is a half-sister to three turf stakes winners, including Simply in Front, a recent Grade 2 winner at Kentucky Downs.

It was a record seventh Natalma victory for Casse, Woodbine’s perennial leading trainer.

“She ran wonderfully, with a lot of heart,” said Casse assistant Kathryn Sullivan. “We knew from her race at Saratoga we had a special filly. I think she really proved it today.”
