Up-and-comer Dreams of Tomorrow a contender in Lure Stakes
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Dreams of Tomorrow, a winner of two straight allowance races, will step back into stakes company when he runs in Saturday’s $120,000 Lure Stakes for horses who have not won a graded stakes in 2021. The Lure is at one mile on the turf.
Dreams of Tomorrow is trained by Shug McGaughey, who trained Lure, a two-time turf champion.
In his win going a mile at Belmont in May, Dreams of Tomorrow took advantage of a swift pace to rally from last and win by 4 1/4 lengths.
“I was really impressed with his kick,” McGaughey said. “I thought, ‘What is he doing back there?’
“We’ll see what two turns means. One turn at Belmont is a lot different than two turns up here.”
Dreams of Tomorrow will have to overcome post 11 in the 12-horse field, though Tacitus is entered for the main track.
Also entered in the Lure are Delaware, Value Proposition, Fighting Seabee, Flavius, Midnight Tea Time, Tell Your Daddy, Guildsman, South Bend, Ballagh Rocks, and Temple.
