Analyze It shows in Red Bank score that Breeders' Cup Mile is within reach

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Overshadowed by the Kentucky Derby and other graded stakes at Churchill Downs and elsewhere Saturday was the performance of Analyze It, who came off a 22-month layoff to win the Grade 3 Red Bank Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths under Joe Bravo at Monmouth Park.
Analyze It, trained by Chad Brown for Bill Lawrence, was making his first start since he finished third to Expert Eye in the Breeders’ Cup Mile in November 2018.
Brown said chronic foot problems necessitated the long layoff. He said the horse was too talented not to try to get him back and give him the opportunity to win a Grade 1 stakes.
A race like the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile on Oct. 3 at Keeneland could be used as a stepping-stone to the Breeders’ Cup Mile, also at Keeneland, on Nov. 7.
“He’s just so talented you got to keep going,” Brown said. “He ran super. We weren’t surprised, that’s for sure. Joe did a really good job. They had him boxed in a little bit, but he showed a lot of patience.”
