DEL MAR, Calif. – From coast to coast, Analyze It has yet to find competition in the 2-year-old turf division.

After winning a maiden race by 6 1/4 lengths at Belmont Park in his debut on Oct. 28, Analyze It ($3) ran a very similar race in Sunday’s Grade 3 Cecil B. DeMille Stakes at Del Mar, leading throughout to win by 4 1/4 lengths.

“He was supposed to win,” jockey Jose Ortiz said. “He was 1-2, but the way he did it really surprised me. I mean, wow!”

Ortiz’s brother Irad rode Analyze It in the maiden-race win. Irad Ortiz rode at Aqueduct on Sunday.

“I got the inside info from Irad,” Jose Ortiz said. “He told he loved the horse.”

Analyze It was in front a few strides after the start of the $102,070 DeMille, the final race of the track’s four-week autumn meeting. Analyze It was challenged by the 33-1 outsider King Eddie for the first half-mile, in 47.48 seconds, but did not face a threat in the second half of the race.

Analyze It led by a length with a quarter-mile remaining and by four lengths at the eighth pole.

“He was going easy,” Ortiz said. “He broke well and was really sharp. I let him do the same thing he did in his debut, and it worked out. I knew at the three-eighths pole I had a ton of horse.

“I haven’t won on a 2-year-old like that in a while.”

Pubilius Syrus, a 6-1 shot, closed from sixth in a field of 11 to finish a clear second, 2 1/4 lengths in front of 80-1 East Rand. Choo Choo was fourth, followed by Inscom, Extrordinary Jerry, Magic Musketier, Golden Dragon, Big Buzz, Armour Plate and King Eddie.

Analyze It gave New York-based trainer Chad Brown his second graded stakes win at Del Mar on Sunday. An hour earlier, Off Limits won the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes for Brown.

Analyze It, owned by William Lawrence, is by Point of Entry and was purchased for $190,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. auction of 2-year-olds in training in March. Analyze It has earned $105,000 from his two wins.
