Keeneland Photo Amy Gregory, Keeneland's director of communications since 2013, has announced her retirement.

Amy Gregory, the director of communications at the Keeneland Association since 2013 and a staple in the communications office for nearly two decades, will retire this summer, the company announced on Monday.

Gregory ran the communications office for Keeneland’s two immensely popular race meets and the company’s half-dozen auctions, as well as assisting in the publicity efforts for Keeeland’s three Breeders’ Cup events, during an era when the promotional world transitioned rapidly from print and broadcast toward the dominance of social media.

The role also entailed public-relations efforts for Keeneland’s charitable efforts, its world-renowned library, and its numerous capital-improvement projects. Gregory was first hired by the Keeneland communications office as a media relations manager in 2006, after 18 years at Churchill Downs Inc.

“It’s been a privilege to serve Keeneland for nearly 20 years and to work in this wonderful sport throughout my 45-year career,” Gregory said. “Being part of this amazing Keeneland team was my dream job, and I’m proud of my contributions to Keeneland’s legacy and its leadership position in the Thoroughbred industry.”

Gregory will continue to “provide communications support” during race meets and sales after her official retirement on June 1, Keeneland said.

“Amy’s professionalism, tireless work ethic, and unwavering commitment to the sport and Keeneland’s mission have left a lasting impact,” said Shannon Arvin, Keeneland’s chief executive. “While we will miss her daily presence, we are happy that she will remain connected to Keeneland and continue to contribute in meaningful ways.”
