Amoss unsure when Mo Tom will work next

Mo Tom continues to do well in his daily training and came out of a sharp half-mile workout last Saturday at Fair Grounds in good shape, and while Tom Amoss isn’t certain whether Mo Tom will have one or two more works before the Louisiana Derby, Mo Tom won’t be working again on Saturday.
“We have a lot of bad weather coming in tonight, and it’s going to be around for a while,” Amoss said Wednesday. “It’s still up in the air when he’ll work again.”
Mo Tom closed from the back of the field to win the Lecomte Stakes in January and was on the way to doing the same thing in the Risen Star when he was badly impeded in midstretch. Amoss has no intention of trying to change Mo Tom’s late-running style, but the notion that Fair Grounds, with its long stretch, is tailored to the way Mo Tom runs is mistaken, he said.
“It’s a great misnomer to think this is a closing racetrack,” Amoss said. “I’ve been here a long time, and I’ve never known it to be that way.”
