Amis Gizmo wins Bull Page to remain undefeated

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The unbeaten Amis Gizmo stamped himself as one of Woodbine’s leading 2-year-olds with a professional score Sunday in the $125,000 Bull Page Stakes.
Ruth Less Blue, another son of Giant Gizmo, went straight to the lead in the six-furlong sprint and set fractions of 22.74 seconds and 45.65. Amis Gizmo pressed him along the rail and took control in the stretch before coasting home on top by 3 1/2 lengths in 1:10.06 under Luis Contreras.
Me More, a 60-1 outsider, rallied wide to finish a half-length in front of a fading Ruth Less Blue in second in the eight-horse field of Ontario-sired runners.
Amis Gizmo was exiting off a come-from-behind debut victory in the 6 1/2-furlong Simcoe, a stakes for graduates of local yearling sales.
“We were a little concerned about cutting back in distance,” said trainer Josie Carroll. “Ultimately, I think farther is going to be better, but he was precocious enough that we felt comfortable here.”
Amis Gizmo ($3.40) earned $75,000 for owner-breeder Ivan Dalos.
