Amherst Street wins by neck as favorite in Coin Collector Stakes

Heavy Favorite Amherst Street lived up to his billing and won the $50,000 Coin Collector Stakes at Charles Town by a long neck. Trained by Javier Contreras, Amherst Street was kept just off the early pace and to the outside by jockey Antonio Lopez.

Pacesetting Aly's Tap led every step of the way to the final jump but was outgained by Amherst Street at the wire. Amherst Street bled and was vanned off after the race. By His Word finished third.

The running time for the 4 1/2 furlongs over a fast track was 52.35 seconds, and Amherst Street returned $3.20 to win.
