America's Tale takes them all the way in Tiffany Lass

America's Tale ($8.20) took the lead out of the gate and never looked back, winning the $75,000 Tiffany Lass Stakes on Wednesday at Fair Grounds by five lengths.
The 3-year-old America's Tale, exiting a victory against her own age group last time in the seven-furlong Safely Kept Stakes at Laurel Park, met older rivals in the one-mile-and-70-yard Tiffany Lass.
"The older she's getting, the better she's getting," Georgia Jackson, assistant to trainer Bernie Flint, told Fair Grounds publicity in a post-race interview. "I thought she had a good shot, but she's in against older fillies and mares, and she's just 3. She proved it today."
It was the third straight win for America's Tale, who captured a second-level allowance at Churchill – also facing older – prior to the Safely Kept. All three were front-running victories. On Wednesday, she took the six-horse Tiffany Lass field through an opening quarter-mile in 23.96 seconds and a half in 47.52.
"She broke very sharp, and just was very comfortable," said jockey Colby Hernandez. "And when I called on her, she went on."
Naveed Chowhan campaigns the winner, a daughter of Gio Ponti, whose record now stands at 5-3-1 from 15 starts with earnings of $269,823.
Even-money favorite Shenandoah Queen finished second, 2 1/2 lengths in front of Moonlit Garden. Auspicious Babe, Hey Niki, and Frost Wise – who was reluctant to load, delaying the start of the race for nearly 10 minutes – completed the order of finish. The final time was 1:43.16.
