America's Tale rerouted to Thoroughbred Club of America at Keeneland

LOUISVILLE, KY. – America’s Tale, scratched as the morning-line favorite from the Open Mind last Saturday at Churchill, will make her next start in the Oct. 5 Thoroughbred Club of America at Keeneland, said trainer Bernie Flint.
America’s Tale was scratched by the state veterinarian because of what Flint said was a “spot on her front left hoof where she must’ve stepped on something.”
“She’s just fine now,” he said. “It was like a stone bruise, I guess, and I was going to scratch her anyway.”
Because America’s Tale is on the vet’s list, she must breeze satisfactorily following a seven-day wait to be cleared to race.
The Grade 2 TCA Stakes is a Win and You’re In for the BC Filly and Mare Sprint. America’s Tale, a 4-year-old Gio Ponti filly, has not raced since finishing fourth on May 4 in the Grade 1 Humana Distaff, a race that followed an 11-1 victory in the Grade 2 Inside Information on March 16 at Gulfstream Park.
“This has kind of messed up my training,” said Flint. “I’d love to run her in the Breeders’ Cup, but I don’t know if I’ll have her in good enough shape for that. I was using [the Open Mind] for the Keeneland race, but with the layoff and all, we’ll just have to see how everything goes.”
