Triple Crown winner American Pharoah will continue to stand for a private fee in 2018, Coolmore's Ashford Stud of Kentucky announced as it revealed its stallion roster and fees. This will be the third Northern Hemisphere season at stud for American Pharoah, who is scheduled to return to Ashford in December after shuttling to stand the ongoing Southern Hemisphere season at Coolmore Australia. He entered stud for an advertised fee of $200,000 in 2016 before moving to a private fee this year. The son of Pioneerof the Nile covered 208 mares in 2016 and 214 in 2017, according to The Jockey Club's Report of Mares Bred. His book this season included Broodmare of the Year honorees Leslie's Lady and Take Charge Lady. The most expensive stallion on the Ashford roster is young standout Uncle Mo, with an advertised fee of $125,000. That mark is slightly down from his fee of $150,000 in 2017, when he garnered a strong book including four-time Eclipse Award champion Beholder. The young stallion sired 2016 Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist, the previous year's juvenile champion, in his first crop. Eclipse Award champion juvenile Classic Empire, another son of Pioneerof the Nile, will debut for $35,000, keying a trio of newcomers at Ashford. Fees for Grade 1 winners Cupid and Practical Joke will be announced following their expected meeting in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile. Stalwarts Giant's Causeway and Tale of the Cat will stand for $75,000 and $25,000, respectively. The Ashford roster is rounded out by Declaration of War and Munnings at $25,000, Air Force Blue at $20,000, Lookin At Lucky and Verrazano at $17,500, Shanghai Bobby and Vancouver at $15,000, and Competitive Edge, Fusaichi Pegasus, Magician, and Stay Thirsty at $7,500.
