American Pharoah just jogs Saturday

DEL MAR, Calif. – American Pharoah, the Triple Crown winner, merely jogged again Saturday morning at Del Mar, the second straight day he has jogged since returning to the track following his victory last Sunday in the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park.
American Pharoah walked Monday, flew later that morning from New Jersey to California, and walked here from Tuesday through Thursday. He jogged Friday and Saturday.
Trainer Bob Baffert on Tuesday said American Pharoah was "wiped out" after getting back here on Monday. American Pharoah usually walks for three days after a race. This time, he walked for four days. Upon returning to the track for training, American Pharoah usually jogs for one day before resuming galloping. This time, he has jogged for two days – so far.
The Haskell marked the first time American Pharoah shipped across the country and then immediately returned. His only other quick turnaround trip this year was to the Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park in Arkansas, but that's a significantly shorter trip, and it was not hot and humid then like it was in New Jersey last Sunday. American Pharoah's trips to the Preakness and Belmont Stakes began from Churchill Downs.
American Pharoah won't have a workout until he gets in at least a few days of galloping. Only then might Baffert start zeroing in on a subsequent start. But so far, he's taken a go-slow approach.
