American Pharoah hits milestone with 50th winner

Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, last year’s leading freshman sire, hit another milestone in his stud career on Sunday. Pista was a 6 1/2-length winner of her debut going 10 furlongs on soft turf at Galway in Ireland, becoming her sire’s 50th individual winner. The victories for the Coolmore stallion have come in seven different countries.
Pista capped off an outstanding midsummer run for American Pharoah, as she was his 10th individual winner since July 23, those coming in three different countries. The run both began and concluded in Ireland, as Nicest won her debut at Leopardstown on July 23. The following day, Turned Aside won the Grade 3 Quick Call Stakes at Saratoga. American Pharoah was represented by a pair of maiden winners on July 25 – Reframe in Japan and American Dream at Louisiana Downs. Amsden won a maiden at Colonial on July 28, with Zero to Sixty winning on debut at Saratoga the following day. Beacon of Truth won a Laurel maiden on July 31. There was another double on Aug. 1, with Ima Pharoah winning a Saratoga maiden and American Butterfly winning an allowance at Ellis Park. Pista wrapped things up back in Ireland the following day.
Turned Aside was the ninth stakes winner for American Pharoah, joining Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint winner Four Wheel Drive, fellow U.S. graded stakes winners Harvey’s Lil Goil and Sweet Melania, French Group 3 winner Maven, Japanese Group 3 winner Cafe Pharoah, Japanese stakes winner Danon Pharaoh, French stakes winner Ocean Atlantique, and U.S. stakes winner Another Miracle.
