The filly, by perennial leading sire Tapit, is out of the Yankee Gentleman mare Littleprincessemma. The new arrival is a full sister to Chasing Yesterday, who won the Grade 1 Starlet Stakes and two other stakes in 2018. The following year, she won the Sunland Park Oaks and was third in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks.
Littleprincessemma, who has been honored as Kentucky’s Broodmare of the Year, is the dam of five winners from as many starters, led by American Pharoah, honored as Horse of the Year for winning the 2015 Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup Classic, and also the previous year’s Eclipse Award champion juvenile. Littleprincessemma also is the dam of Grade 1-placed American Cleopatra and Group 3-placed St Patrick’s Day, both of those, like American Pharoah, by the late Pioneerof the Nile.
Summer Wind purchased Littleprincessemma in November 2014 and raced Chasing Yesterday as a homebred. Summer Wind has sent Littleprincessemma back to Pioneerof the Nile several times. Littleprincessemma also is the dam of the 2-year-old colt Triple Tap and the yearling filly Lasting Tribute.
