American All Star upsets

Chuck Dybdal|Oct 16, 2006

American All Star ($26) made his first start off a claim by trainer Mike Machowsky a winning one, holding off Swiss Lad to win the $63,725 Bull Dog Stakes at the Big Fresno Fair.

Jockey Danny Boag put American All Star on the lead early, opened by five into the lane and had just enough left to hold off Swiss Lad, winning the one-mile race by a nose in 1:34.20. My Creed was third another 1 1/4 lengths back.

Machowsky claimed American All Star for $50,000 when he finished fifth in a five-furlong turf race in his first start of the year on Aug. 21.

The victory was the 6-year-old gelding's first since his last dirt start on Sept. 18, 2005.
