No plans have been set for Touchuponastar, but the $750,000 Alysheba on May 1 at Churchill is one of two races that owner Jake Delhomme and trainer Jeff Delhomme are tentatively considering for the standout Louisiana-bred 7-year-old. Touchuponastar, who is based at the Copper Crowne Training Center in Opelousas, La., won the New Orleans Classic for the second year in a row on March 21. The gelding has won 17 in a row in statebred-restricted competition and has a five-race winning streak since finishing fifth last May in the Steve Sexton Mile at Lone Star, the other race on connections’ radar, Jake Delhomme said. While two Sexton Miles mark Touchuponastar’s only races outside Louisiana, he has posted Beyer Speed Figures between 100 and 109 (including a 106 in the New Orleans Classic) in eight of his last nine outings. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
