Alyce Stevens, owner, dies at 77
Alyce Stevens, who along with her husband, William, made up Inniscarra Stable, died Monday due to complications from cancer. She was 77.
Stevens, a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., campaigned stakes runners Chowder's First, Let Goodtimes Roll, and Deed I Do. Chowder's First, a son of the graded-stakes-placed Let Goodtimes Roll, won the John Morrissey last summer at Saratoga and the Kings Point Handicap last spring at Aqueduct. Deed I Do was second in the 2000 Grade 2 Bonnie Miss at Gulfstream.
Stevens was the daughter-in-law of Harry M. Stevens, the noted concessionaire. Bill Stevens will continue to operate the stable, according to trainer Phil Serpe.
Serpe said the funeral is private, but a memorial service may be held next summer at Saratoga.
