Alwaary can show his older rivals who's the boss in the Group 2, $162,000 Princess of Wales's Stakes on the Newmarket July Course on Thursday. The lone 3-year-old in the 1 1/2-mile Group 2 contest, Alwaary, trained by John Gosden, won a 1 3/8-mile listed race at Goodwood last time. This will be just the fifth outing for Alwaary, an improving son of the hot stallion Dynaformer, the sire of Sunday's German Derby winner, Wiener Walzer. Alwaary's stablemate Duncan is the likely favorite by virtue of his one-length fourth-place finish behind Ask, Youmzain, and Look Here in the Group 1 Coronation Cup. Campanologist is a big threat for Godolphin after being caught near the line by Bronze Cannon in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot, while All the Aces looms large off a six-length course-and-distance score at the listed level on June 27. * The Group 2, $130,000 July Stakes at six furlongs for 2-year-olds looks like a toss-up. Among those who can lay claim are Orpen Grey, an eight-length allowance winner at Salisbury; Reignier and Tawaabb, second and third in Royal Ascot's Group 2 Norfolk Stakes; and the undefeated but untested Niran. The selection, though, is Arcano, a Brian Meehan-trained son of Oasis Dream who won a 13-runner Newbury maiden by a deceptively easy head in his June 11 debut.
