Do Share wins the Stud Muffin Stakes
Joe Labozzetta/NYRA Do Share, winning the Stud Muffin Stakes, will be making his sixth start of the year and his fifth in 83 days on Friday.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Alright Alright and Do Share have demonstrated to their connections that they thrive on racing. On Friday, both will be making their sixth start of 2017 in a second-level allowance/optional $62,500 claiming race that serves as the feature on Aqueduct’s eight-race card.

Alright Alright and Do Share have combined to win seven of 10 starts, with two second-place finishes, this year. Do Share’s only loss came to Alright Alright in a first-level allowance race Feb. 25 over Aqueduct’s inner track.

Do Share is part of a coupled entry for trainer Linda Rice, who also entered Gypsum Johnny. Since she named Cornelio Velasquez on both, Rice may only run one. On Wednesday, she appeared to be leaning toward Do Share because his style would benefit from what looks to be a contested pace. Do Share is coming off a victory in the Stud Muffin Stakes on New York’s Claiming Championship card on April 1.

“I’d like to give Do Share a little more time, but I might run him because I think the setup might be good,” said Rice, who has three wins from four starts with Do Share since claiming the gelding for $50,000 in January.

Gypsum Johnny, who has lost three times in this condition, figures to be forwardly placed in a race with other speed such as Hey Jabber Jaw, Bond Vigilante, and Alright Alright.

There is a prospect for an off track if Thursday’s forecast for rain late in the day and into Friday morning holds true. Do Share and Gypsum Johnny both have multiple wins over a wet track.

Alright Alright also had success over a wet track. He has a win and, most recently, a second-place finish to Vorticity in this same condition at Laurel.

KEY CONTENDERS

Do Share, by Candy Ride

Last 3 Beyers: 88-95-87

◗ This will be his sixth start of the year and his fifth in 83 days.

“When horses aren’t doing well, give them a rest,” Rice said. “When they are doing well, make the most of it.”

◗ Though he won the Stud Muffin going a one-turn mile, his four other victories have come at this six-furlong distance.

◗ Looks like he could work out a sweet trip behind the ample speed horses in field.

Alright Alright, by Munnings

Last 3 Beyers: 86-90-92

◗ Had a three-race winning streak snapped when he finished second behind the stakes winner Vorticity in an allowance race in the slop at Laurel on March 31. Has a habit of breaking a step slowly but has displayed ample speed to overcome it.

“If we can get a good break, we’ll really be in good shape,” trainer David Jacobson said.

Bond Vigilante, by Salute the Sarge

Last 3 Beyers: 73-97-95

◗ Got burned up in a speed duel in a swift running of the Hollie Hughes Stakes on Feb. 11, his first start off the John Toscano Jr. claim. Back at the level at which he has a win and a second to Spartiatis, who has since won the Grade 3 Tom Fool.
