Alluramore, Fru Fru Zan rematch in allowance
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Trainer Steve Dwoskin thought so much of Alluramore as a 2-year-old he launched her career in three consecutive stakes races, all three legs of the 2020 Florida Stallion Series, although she finished off the board on each occasion.
After giving Alluramore nearly a year off, Dwoskin finally brought her back against maidens, the promising daughter of Gone Astray finishing in a dead heat for the win with Fru Fru Zan while launching her 3-year-old campaign earlier this month at Gulfstream Park.
On Sunday, that pair will meet again, this time under entry-level allowance conditions as part of a nine-horse field in the afternoon’s featured event that is carded at six furlongs for Florida-bred fillies and mares who will compete for a $46,000 purse.

Alluramore and Fru Fru Zan dominated their competition in their first meeting, finishing more than eight lengths ahead of the rest of the field. Fru Fru Zan set the pace before being caught at the wire by Alluramore, with both fillies earning career-best 71 Beyer Speed Figures.
The competition will be decidedly tougher Sunday and includes La Chica Lateral, whose three-race win streak to open her career came to an end with a second-place finish under similar conditions July 30. She figures to show improved speed off the recent freshening with Edgard Zayas back in the saddle and along with Fru Fru Zan could be part of a lively pace with Bahamian Moon and Mackenzie’s Girl also likely to show plenty of early foot breaking from the inside.
The quick pace could enhance the chances of recent maiden winner Causingahullbaloo, who figures to be closing fast switching from turf to dirt and turning back in distance for trainer Mark Casse.
