Allowance races part of pick four and Rainbow 6

A pair of main-track allowances anchor a solid 10-race Sunday card at Gulfstream Park, with both helping to make for an alluring late pick four at the South Florida track.
A $53,000 second-level allowance with a $62,500 claiming option kicks off the 50-cent pick four, spanning races 7-10. Don’t Get Khozy, first or second in 18 of 30 career races, will be seeking redemption after finishing fifth as an odds-on favorite in her most recent start June 6. Trained by Antonio Sano for the Imaginary Stables, the 4-year-old Khozan filly will have leading jockey Edgard Zayas aboard when she breaks from post 1 in a field of six fillies and mares going a one-turn mile.
The other allowance goes as race 9. It’s a $52,000 first-level race that drew nine 3-year-olds and up, with Rebelde, Front Loaded, Pudding, and Max Malibu among a core of lukewarm favorites in a wide-open affair. Rebelde, a 4-year-old gelding trained by Terri Pompay for longtime client Wanda Polisseni, has really come to hand during this six-month spring-summer meet, with a win and two seconds from his three starts.
Purses listed are the maximum, given that both include $7,000 in bonuses restricted to eligible Florida-breds.
First post is 12:50 p.m. Eastern, with a $70,000 maiden-special for 2-year-old fillies at 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf serving as the opener.
The co-features also are part of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 (races 5-10), which can be expected to have a pool guarantee of about $600,000, assuming the jackpot isn’t swept Friday or Saturday by a solo winning ticket. The next forceout of the Rainbow 6 had not been announced as of Friday morning.
A Sunday forecast of sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s seems to assure that grass racing will take place as scheduled. Five of the 10 races are on turf.
Gulfstream continues to race just three days a week, Friday-Sunday, owing in large part to the ongoing construction of the new Tapeta course expected for completion by early September. For local simulcast bettors, Silks is open seven days a week.
The highlight next weekend is the $75,000 Monroe, a 1 1/16-mile turf race on Saturday. Shifty She, a last-out winner of the Ginger Punch on June 12, is among the fillies and mares expected for the race.
