Allowance races highlight Friday card

Two allowance races on the dirt and one over turf highlight a nine-race program when racing resumes at Gulfstream on Friday.

Ten fillies and mares, including one entered for the main-track only, are entered in the seventh race, carded at five furlongs on the grass. The wide-open contest pits the up-and-coming 3-year-old I Am the Boss, an easy winner of both her turf outings, against a group of vastly more seasoned older rivals. They are led by Awsum Roar, who was beaten a head after a near race-long duel under similar conditions on June 6.

In race 3, eight Florida-bred 3-year-olds and up will go a mile vying for a $51,000 purse. Four are coming off a career-best performance from a Beyer Speed Figure standpoint: Fast Loaded, First Rule, Alonzo, and Creative Cloud.

Race 8, for 3-year-olds sprinting six furlongs, matches a field of seven, including Shanghai Ronnie, who won his only start, and stakes-seasoned The Distractor and Gatsby.
