Allowance could set up for Take Your Place

Take Your Place could have the right running style to win a conditioned allowance race with a $62,500 claiming option that headlines Wednesday’s card at Gulfstream Park West. The seven-furlong dash on the main track goes as race 7 on the eight-race program that begins at 12:30 p. m. Eastern.

Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., Take Your Place rallied to finish second at the same level running over a sloppy track Oct. 7 at Gulfstream Park West. He was coming back from a layoff following wins with Tyler Gaffalione aboard at Gulfstream Park on July 1 and July 26. In his first win, in a first-level allowance race with a $16,000 claiming option, he broke sharply from the inside post, was eased into a stalking position, and then rallied three wide to nail Mr. Kisses late.

In his victory in a $62,500 optional-claiming race July 26, he trailed the field turning for home before unleashing a furious rally to nail Diddley at the wire in the five-furlong dash on the main track originally scheduled for turf.

In his most recent race with Aby Medina riding, he was no match for Quijote, who romped by 6 1/2 lengths. It was a solid effort, though, and he figures to move forward in his second start back with leading rider Edgard Zayas picking up the mount.

He will break from post 2 in the six-horse field.

There should be a fast and honest pace if Conquest Big E breaks alertly from his inside post. If not, Belle Tapissere will be tough to reel in.

Trained by Donna Green, Conquest Big E is the wild card. He took them all the way in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Mile on March 31, but has not fired in four subsequent starts, the latest in the $75,000 Mo Exception on Sept. 7 at Gulfstream.

If he is back on his game, he will make a big impact. The 5-year-old Kentucky-bred gelding will break from the rail with Paco Lopez riding.

KEY CONTENDERS

Take Your Place, by Into Mischief
Last 3 Beyers: 77-79-86

◗ The shape of the race could work for him, and with two sharp interim works it appears Joseph has him primed for another strong race.

Belle Tapisserie, by Tapizar
Last 3 Beyers: 81-81-61

◗ The Jaime Mejia-trained-3-year-old is coming off a win going seven furlongs in a first-level allowance race with a $16,000 claiming option Oct. 20, and the other time he went seven furlongs he finished second to National Flag who came back to win the Grade 3 Bay Shore at Aqueduct.

◗ He drew post 5 and could be gone if he breaks on top with Hector Berrios in the irons.

Conquest Big E, by Tapit
Last 3 Beyers: 65-69-71

◗ He beat a strong field that included three next-out winners in the Gulfstream Mile, but with four straight disappointing performances, it is hard to know what to expect in this spot.

◗ He has been freshened, though, and it is encouraging to see Lopez is interested.
