Alliford Bay repeats in California Governor's Cup

Shane Micheli/Vassar Photography Alliford Bay posted a three-length victory in Saturday's California Governor's Cup Handicap.
Alliford Bay led throughout for a three length win over Eccentric Spinster in the $50,000 California Governor's Cup at the California State Fair in Sacramento on Saturday. It was another 2 1/2 lengths back in third to Deb's Wildcard.
The Governor's Cup is a six-furlong race for fillies and mares.
Alliford Bay ($2.80) was clear through fractions of 23.45 seconds for the opening quarter and 46.37 for the half-mile before going on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:10.18.
Juan Hernandez was aboard for trainer Blaine Wright.
Alliford Bay is a daughter of City Zip who races for Peter Redekop. She was winning her fourth straight race – all stakes – and her second consecutive running of the California Governor's Cup.
