Joe Kirk Fulton, who owned and bred the Quarter Horse world champions Dashs Dream (1984) and Special Leader (1991), died of cancer at his ranch near Stonewall, Texas, on Thursday, his family has announced. Fulton was 81.

Ready Racer appears to be rounding into the form that saw him win the $50,000 Sun Sprint Championship last year and ultimately be named the 2012 sprinter of the year in Alberta.
Wilo Kat will be a short price when he shoots for his first stakes win in the $75,000 B.C. Cup Classic at Hastings on Monday.

Lost in the hoopla surrounding the July 7 Queen’s Plate was sharp-looking allowance score by Phil’s Dream, who makes his stakes debut Monday at Woodbine in the 6 1/2-furlong Shepperton.
While the Manitoba Derby will be the main course at Assiniboia Downs on Monday a trio of other stakes races will be tantalizing appetizers on the eight-race program.
