Layoffs were not an issue for Birdlover and Indecise in Sunday’s $79,000 Wishing Well Stakes at Santa Anita. Birdlover, unraced since finishing second in the Wishing Well Stakes on Feb. 9, 2014, led throughout the Wishing Well Stakes over about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course, beating Indecise by a half-length. Indecise had not raced since winning an optional claimer on Jan. 19, 2014.

The mutuel field closed Sunday as a 5-2 favorite in Pool 2 of the 2015 Kentucky Derby Future Wager, with Texas Red the heaviest-backed individual interest at 9-1.

Shared Belief and California Chrome were separated by 1 1/2 lengths at the finish of Saturday’s $590,000 San Antonio Stakes at Santa Anita. They will be apart by 8,300 miles for the better part of March.

FAR FROM OVER turned in a highlight-reel performance, overcoming an awful stumble at the start to rally from last in the field of six and get the win.
Far From Over and El Kabeir, the one-two finishers from Saturday’s Grade 3 Withers Stakes at Aqueduct, both appeared to come out of their races in good order, according to their connections, who are mulling their options for the future.
Both Dortmund and Firing Line, who finished one-two in a thrilling edition of the Grade 3 Robert Lewis Stakes on Saturday at Santa Anita, were reported in good condition by their trainers Sunday morning, and there is the possibility they will meet for a third straight time in the Santa Anita Derby on April 4.
