Swan song for Fasig-Tipton Texas

The Fasig-Tipton Texas auction of 2-year-olds in training on Tuesday will mark the end of an era. The sale administered by the Kentucky-based auction house will be the final one for the Fasig-Tipton Texas office. Since 1997, Fasig-Tipton Texas has conducted as many as three different auctions each year, all at a sales pavilion at Lone Star Park that was built in partnership by the Dallas-area track, Fasig-Tipton, and owners and breeders with ties to Texas. The sales have been sponsored by the Texas Thoroughbred Association.

Darley’s Medaglia d’Oro made his first trip to Australia in 2010, and sired only a couple of stakes winners to date from his first crop of Australian 3-year-olds, but he has a potentially great one in his second in Vancouver, who captured the world’s richest juvenile race, the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes, on March 21.
