Pletcher works three Derby horses at Palm Beach Downs

Trainer Todd Pletcher had a plane to catch. So the action started early, before dawn, at the Palm Beach Downs training center on Saturday where Pletcher worked three of his Kentucky Derby candidates -- Materiality, Stanford, and Itsaknockout -- shortly after which he boarded a private jet which got him to Lexington in time to see one of his leading Derby hopefuls, Carpe Diem, breeze at Keeneland later that morning.

Saturday morning, on a glorious spring morning at Belmont Park, Tencendur showed tractability in a half-mile workout over the main track that Daily Racing Form timed in 47.16 seconds. The work was the fastest of 26 at the distance, according to the Belmont clockers.

Key Race report: Little Miss Julia returns in optional claimer

Little Miss Julia (#6, ML 6-1) will return to action in Saturday's ninth race at Gulfstream Park, a six-furlong optional claimer. It will be her first start since a second-place finish by 2 3/4 lengths in a six-furlong race Feb. 20 at Gulfstream Park. The first-, fourth-, and fifth-place finishers from that optional claimer came back to win their next starts.
