Stakes winner Dixie Twist has landed in a spot where she could get back on track in Friday’s Woodbine headliner, a first-level allowance sprint for 3-year-old fillies that has a $75,000 claiming option.
One year ago this weekend, a Triple Crown was on the line at Belmont Park, where Positive Side ran in the Grade 3 Jaipur on the Belmont Stakes undercard.Although he ultimately failed to menace, Positive Side was sent away at just 7-1 in the Jaipur on account of the good form he brought to the race. One year later, his form has failed to cycle back, and when the feature race is run Friday at Churchill Downs, Positive Side will be in for a $62,500 claiming option.
Trainer Kieron Magee saddles Chief of Command (#1, ML 5-1) in Wednesday’s sixth race at Penn National, a six-furlong allowance. Since Jan. 1, 2014, Magee is winning at a 27 percent clip in dirt races, for a return on investment of $2.15.
