After being stuck in quarantine, forced to train at three different locations, and having his van break down en route to Kentucky, Favorite Tale hit yet another obstacle on Monday when he drew the outside post in a field of 14 speedsters set to contest the six-furlong Sprint.

The stage is set for an international showdown Saturday in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Keeneland after a full field of 12, plus a pair of also-eligibles, was drawn Monday.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Karakontie drew post 11 on Monday for his repeat bid in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Mile, but that draw, while less than ideal, hardly seems impossible considering that Karakontie won the 2014 Mile after breaking from post 14.

With three of the 14 starters in the race, Wesley Ward had to hold his breath a little longer than his fellow horsemen while post positions were being drawn on Monday for the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. But in the end, Ward came out smiling on all fronts.
