All My Memories poised to gain second win
All My Memories has been looking for his second win since he won a maiden special weight race on the main track at Belmont with a 90 Beyer Speed Figure last May 17. A recent switch to grass seems to have sparked a resurgence for All My Memories, and he has a good chance to get over the hump in a $30,000 claiming race on turf at Gulfstream Park on Thursday. The one-mile race is restricted to 3-year-olds, or to 3-year-olds and up who have not won two races. It drew eight horses and goes as the seventh race.
Following his maiden win, All My Memories showed a lot of promise when he finished second to subsequent Grade 2 winner Protonico in a $50,000 optional-claiming race at Belmont June 25. However, he didn’t make any kind of impact when he returned in a first-level allowance race at Saratoga Aug. 16 and it was a steady downward slide until he switched to turf in his first start as a 4-year-old here Feb. 27.
Racing for trainer Jason Servis, All My Memories rallied to finish fourth in a $30,000 conditional claimer at one mile, and came right back with another solid effort, finishing second going one mile at the same level April 4.
He was claimed out of the race by trainer Michael Petro on behalf of owner Frank Calabrese. In his first start for his new connections, which came going seven and one-half furlongs at the same level, All My Memories stalked the pace, took the lead at the top of the stretch and was caught late by Majestic Breeze, who was sixth early.
All My Memories drew the rail, from where he should get a cozy trip stalking what figures to be a modest pace.
Jose Caraballo retains the mount.
Crown the Kitten and the smartly named Smart as a Fawkes are the only multiple winners in the race and could do some damage dropping to new lows.
