Alittlelesstalk outgames favored Mucho Amor in Kent

Alittlelesstalk upset heavily favored Mucho Amor in the $50,000 Kent Stakes at Emerald Downs Sunday. She paid $24.80 for her gutsy win in the 6 1/2-furlong dash for 3-year-old fillies.

With Lorenzo Lopez riding, Alittlelesstalk broke alertly from post 2, and dueled with Forty Six Carats through an opening quarter-mile in 22.40 seconds. After disposing of Forty Six Carats midway through the stretch turn she was immediately collared by Mucho Amor. The pair left the field behind, and after a stretch long duel Alittlelesstalk prevailed by a neck. Senoradiablo rallied to finish third, 6 3/4 lengths behind Mucho Amor.

The final time was 1:15.33.

“At the three-eighths pole I had a lot of horse but I knew Mucho Amor was coming,” said Lopez. “I started riding hard and she kept going.”

It was the first stakes win at Emerald for Lopez.

A Washington-bred daughter of Demon Warlock, Alittlelesstalk is trained by Roddina Barrett.
