Alexis Tangier scores in Swingtime

ARCADIA, Calif.- Alexis Tangier won her first stakes in slightly more than year in Saturday’s $74,800 Swingtime Stakes for fillies and mares at a mile on Santa Anita’s turf.
Ridden by Gary Stevens, Alexis Tangier ($11) closed from fifth in the final half-mile to win by 1 1/4 lengths over 11-1 Cast in Silver. Energia Fribby, a Group 1 winner in Brazil in 2013 who raced in England and Dubai in the last year, finished third at 28-1 in her American debut.
Gender Agenda, the 3-1 favorite, finished fourth after leading in the stretch. Salsita finished fifth, followed by Journey On, Customer Base, Intoxicating Move, Tiz Kissable, Full Ransom, and Kathleen Rose.
Alexis Tangier was timed in 1:34.49. A 4-year-old filly by Tiznow, Alexis Tangier has won 4 of 11 starts and earned $206,180. She won the minor Unzip Me Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on the hillside turf course in October 2014 but did not start again until May of this year.
The Swingtime Stakes, which was restricted to fillies and mares who had not won a stakes worth $60,000 or more to the winner, other than statebred races, at a mile or longer this year, was the fourth start of 2015 for Alexis Tangier. She was seventh in the Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon Stakes at Del Mar on Sept. 6.
