Steven Bahen rode Alda ($7.30) for trainer Graham Motion. “I talked to (Motion) this morning,” Bahen said. “I watched her races yesterday. She’s got a real big kick. We discussed that she should be off the pack, about three or four of it. I ended up being a little farther back than I wanted to. She gave me that run she has. It was my first time on her. She’s pretty classy.” Alda was exiting an impressive second-out maiden win at Belmont. The daughter of Munnings earned $60,000 in her stakes debut for Wertheimer and Frere.
