Alcibiades winner Immersive isn't Cox's only talented juvenile filly

LEXINGTON, KY. – Immersive came out of her Friday win in the Grade 1 Alcibiades in good shape, has returned to trainer Brad Cox’s string at Churchill Downs, and will be among the favorites – if not the favorite – in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies.
Who knows if she’s even the leading 2-year-old filly in Cox’s barn?
Earlier on the Friday card, Cox won a first-level sprint allowance race with the Into Mischief filly Eclatant, who had aced her career debut June 21 at Churchill Downs. Eclatant’s Beyers go 82, 81; Immersive’s pattern is 68, 83, 80. Cox wants to run Eclatant in a route allowance at Churchill.
The Munnings filly Muhimma might be as good as anyone. Physically advanced, Muhimma debuted Sept. 21 at Churchill and won a sprint by 7 1/2 lengths while looking like a route horse, earning an 83 Beyer. She worked back Oct. 5, with race plans yet to be set.
Cox said he’ll go to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf with Destino d’Oro, who finished third, beaten two noses, in the Jessamine Stakes on Friday. Destino d’Oro suffered through a rough trip, finished fastest, and wins the race in one more jump.
Also Breeders’ Cup-bound is Federal Judge, who romped Friday in the Phoenix Stakes, his first stakes win yielding a top-class 106 Beyer, though a speed-favoring track helped Federal Judge, who went straight to the lead from post 1. Owners WinStar Farm and Siena Farm also have Forego Stakes winner Mullikin for the Sprint, and trainer Rodolphe Brisset confirmed Sunday that Mullikin remains on track for a Del Mar trip.
Meanwhile, Idiomatic equaled her career-best Beyer with a 102 easily winning the Spinster on Sunday, and she’s headed for a showdown with Thorpedo Anna in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff.
Highland Falls, four-length winner of the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup, will have a more serious work toward the BC Classic this weekend, Cox said. And though Saudi Crown missed his intended start Sept. 28 in the Ack Ack Stakes because of a foot problem and hasn’t worked since Sept. 21, Cox said not to count him out of the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.
One could easily lose count of Cox’s Breeders Cup contenders.
