Albuquerque ends meet with a bang
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
It’s an eclectic closing-day card Sunday at The Downs at Albuquerque.
The New Mexico track will put on a $250,000 stakes for Quarter Horses, a $100,000 sprint for 2-year-old Thoroughbreds, and a race restricted to grays and roans.
Zoomin Effortlessly, who has won four Grade 1 races since last October, will meet Jm Miracle, the 2014 winner of the All American Futurity, in the $250,000 Fall Championship for Quarter Horses. The race will be run over the classic distance of 440 yards.
In the $100,000 New Mexico State Fair Thoroughbred Futurity, the horse to beat is Indian H Who. He will be going for his third consecutive win when he starts in the six-furlong race, which is restricted to 2-year-olds bred in New Mexico.
Indian H Who has had all his success at Albuquerque, among his efforts a 3 1/4-length trial win for which he earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 65, the best number in the field Sunday. Glen Murphy has the mount for trainer Joel Marr.
The 11-race card will close with the gray-or-roan race, a $6,250 claimer for 3-year-olds and up at six furlongs. Silver Aces should figure prominently – and he’s much more than a hunch bet. He has finished first, second, or third in his last 10 starts and owns the field’s best last-race Beyer. Silver Aces is by the Silver Ghost stallion Ghostly Moves.
