Alabama winner My Gun's Loaded out for the year

ELMONT, N.Y. - My Gun’s Loaded, winner of the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes last month at Saratoga, will be sidelined the remainder of the year due to an unspecified injury, trainer Chad Brown said Friday.

“Unfortunately, we had to stop on her. She’s probably done for the year because of the timing of it,” Brown said. “We had to back off of her, no surgeries, just wasn’t quite right out of the last race. She ran three really fast races. She finally felt it a little bit. We’ll give her some time and point to a 4-year-old year.”

My Gun’s Loaded, a daughter of Gun Runner, finished last in her career debut sprinting at Oaklawn Park in December when in the barn of Steve Asmussen.

She was transferred by owner Douglas Schaubauer to Brown, who brought her back to the races in a maiden race at Saratoga on June 6 that she won by 4 3/4 lengths. My Gun’s Loaded came back seven weeks later to win a first-level allowance by three lengths before jumping up in class and distance and winning the Alabama by a neck over Measure with Counting Stars, the Acorn and Coaching Club American Oaks winner, finishing third.
